My First Day (1/14/08)

Yesterday was the first day of my 6 month Co-Op at Johnson & Johnson working in the SLC CORE Division. I went through the half day new hire orientation which was a presentation given by a women in the human resources department. She went over general information about J&J, answered questions for people, and collected paperwork that we were expected to fill out and hand in.

After the HR new hire presentation, I was introduced to my mentor Catherine, my business leader Jamie, and was also able to say Hi to my Supervisor Sharon who I had already met during a seminar I had previously attended at Rider, and during my interview. We then ate lunch in the cafeteria in the South building where I was introduced to a few other employees from the CORE division and I was able to get to know my mentor and business leader a little better and further discuss what they had planned for me for the rest of the day.

I then sat in on a Sam's Club Metrics meeting, where the 2007 performance was evaluated and initiatives for 2008 were discussed in regards to managing and improving the shipping and tracking of orders for Sam's Club.

After the metric's meeting I received my Johnson & Johnson employee ID, was shown around the building, and then was given time to set up my computer ans situate myself at my desk. After having some free time I met with my mentor Catherine again, who I will be directly reporting to and my Business leader Jamie to discuss what they had planned for me over the next 6 months and more specifically my itinerary for my first two weeks on the job.

My first two weeks on the job will mostly consist of training and information sessions pertaining to J&J and more specifically the SLC (Sales & Logistics Company) company and CORE (Customer Order and Revenue Efficiency) division I am working within.

Until next time...
